Gretchen wound up at an animal control facility in South Carolina after the only owner she ever knew passed away. None of the family members wanted to care for Gretchen for what time she has left. Fortunately, a couple of the staff members at the shelter were looking out for her best interests and contacted us for help.
Unfortunately, Gretchen’s owner was not able to provide veterinary care for her the last couple of years and she has tested heartworm positive. Given her age, we are following our rescue vet’s advice and giving Gretchen monthly heartworm preventative instead of putting her though heartworm treatment.
Gretchen is not overly active and prefers to lie at your feet or sit near you. She loves to be brushed and petted! Gretchen likes when you sit on the floor with her—she actually rolls right over for belly rubs! She is good with other dogs, and seems to prefer the company of dogs with a similar activity level as her. Gretchen will make a wonderful companion.
